Professor Oddenstein is a mad scientist who lives on the top floor of Draynor Manor. He is a central character of the Ernest the Chicken quest, and minder of the Interdimensional rift for the Killerwatt plane. Ava works as his assistant.
As a mad scientist, he is responsible for creating various things:
- The strange machine, which has transformed Ernest into a chicken.
- Although it is currently a transmutation machine, Oddenstein claims that at various points it used to be a time travel machine, a dramatic lightning generator, and a "thing for generating monsters".[1]
- Aggie, the witch who lives in Draynor Village, says that the machine was turning people into flying fish a few years ago.[2]
- Bob the cat uses being transformed by the strange machine as a cover story for his true origins.[3]
- The portal machine, which has created an interdimensional rift to the Killerwatt plane.
- The Phantasmic Destabiliser Mark 500, used to get rid of ghosts, and later retrofitted into the Easter blaster.[4]
- The security system in Nora T. Hagg's basement.

Trivia
- He appears to resemble the real life theoretical physicist, Albert Einstein.
- In the RuneScape 3 version of The Curse of Arrav, the examine text of the Caged Killerwatt says it came from "Oddenstein industries", indicating that the professor is selling Killerwatts. This examine text was not present in the Old School version of the quest, leaving it unclear if it is still the case in Old School.
