Chaos portal talismans are items that can be obtained during the Guardians of the Rift minigame, by imbuing guardian essence or charging uncharged cells at the Chaos Altar. Upon receiving one, a message in the chatbox will state "You discover a strange talisman during the runecrafting process!"
Portal talismans have a 1/250 chance of being acquired per guardian essence crafted, or 1/200 if players have a maple abyssal lantern equipped;[1][2] this chance is rolled until the player receives one.
The portal talisman can be used to enter the Guardian of Chaos to access the Chaos Altar, even if it is inactive. Doing so consumes the talisman, unless the Guardian of Chaos is currently active. Portal talismans cannot be kept after the game ends, so it is recommended to use them whenever possible.
Players can right-click "Toggle-talisman" on the Guardian of Chaos to toggle whether they wish to receive portal talismans or not from crafting at the Chaos Altar.
When inspected, the chatbox will state "A talisman bound to a runic altar. Presenting this to the respective portal guardian will return you there."
