The Old crane is used during the Elemental Workshop II quest to heat elemental metal in a lava pool. It can be operated with two nearby levers.
It has to be repaired first, by taking a crane schematic from the nearby crate, and then make a crane claw from elemental metal. Using the claw on the crane will repair it.
