Mount Quidamortem

Mount Quidamortem (/ˈkwɪdərmɒrtəm/ KWID-ər-mort-əm^[1]) is a mountain in the Kebos Lowlands. Underneath Mount Quidamortem are the Chambers of Xeric, which serves as the staging ground for raids, as well as the Quidamortem Cave, which is visited during the Tale of the Righteous quest.

Players who haven't unlocked fairy rings will have to travel to the mountain on foot. Players can walk south-west past Shayziens' Wall and run westward until they reach the mountain. A form of poison protection should be taken as there are aggressive Lizardmen of all types patrolling the east side of the mountain. Just before the mountain base, there should be some big frogs and goblins wandering the area. At the base of the mountain will be some mountain troll settlements and a large group of rock crabs.

When players reach the summit, find the Mountain Guide and speak with him to unlock a travel point between the mountain, the Wall, and south of Mount Quidamortem. This will save a considerable amount of time should players enter from Shayzien. Players who have unlocked fairy rings can also use BLS south of Quidamortem, and then utilise the Mountain Guide to travel to the mountain.

It can also be quickly accessed via the Lovakengj Minecart Network, and then running north.

Once players receive an ancient tablet as a reward from the Chambers of Xeric, they are able to use it on Xeric's talisman to unlock the ability to instantly teleport to the mountain with the "Xeric's Honour" option.

On 1,740 - 36 (the 1,740th day of the 36th decade), King Shayzien VII ordered an expedition west to the Kebos Lowlands, seeking to explore and expand the territory of Great Kourend. The expedition team never returned, and it was assumed that all members perished in the field, leading the King to declare that the expedition was a failure.

However, an old journal written by Shayzien VII in the following decade suggests that the expedition deemed the native lizards of the region were suitable for a certain experiment: the creation of the lizardmen. For this purpose, a cave was created in the side of the mountain, with an altar resembling the Dark Altar constructed inside, allowing the actual Dark Altar's power to reach the Kebos Lowlands.

Shortly after the death of Shayzien VII in the Battle of the Concourse, Xeric made his appearance and took over Great Kourend. However, in 332 - 47, he was forced into exile, and travelled to Mount Quidamortem with his most loyal followers. Here, he explored the caverns beneath the mountain, and created the Chambers of Xeric in order to harness the power of the crystals to empower himself and those loyal to him. It was not until over 1,000 years later that the Kebos Lowlands was opened back up, after Shayzien soldiers repelled most of the lizardmen to the caverns below their settlement.

The main feature is Tekton's temple, a large stone dome at the peak of the mountain which hosts a Xerician statue in the center. Just to the north of this temple is the entrance to the Chambers of Xeric.

To the east of the temple are three cloth-covered buildings; the two nearest the mountain hold the Mount Quidamortem bank chest and its associated poll booth, and the far building contains sleeping bag for the Varrock Museum expedition crew.

Apart from the personalities and local fauna, the lake south of Historian Duffy has barbarian fishing spots. These spots are significantly closer to a bank than the spots at Baxtorian Falls, which is particularly useful when using the fish barrel. There is also a permanent fire in the troll camp, as well as dead trees scattered throughout the mountain.

South of the mountain peak is a troll camp, featuring multiple spots with mountain trolls in a multicombat area. This makes the dwarf multicannon effective on troll Slayer tasks. The best cannon spot can be found across the bridge.

• The name of the mountain, Quidamortem, is a combination of the Latin words quidam, meaning "someone, a certain one/thing; something", and mortem, meaning "death".
