Kaht B'alam is a lizardman shaman found inside the Lizardman Temple. They are the only lizardman who can speak to players, and tells them more information about the temple and their culture.
In A Kingdom Divided, it is revealed that they reside in the temple as they have grown disillusioned of the war against the Shayzien house, wishing to serve their master in other ways. They trade their damp key to the adventurer in return for their egg, as they do not want his hatchling to go off to battle and die in vain, and they disappear from the temple once the quest is completed.

- The title Kaht B'alam used to refer to Xeric, K'uhul ajaw, is translated as "Divine lord" in the pre-Columbian Mayan language.
- "Ye niauh" is a phrase in the Nahuatl/Aztec language meaning "Goodbye".
- B'alam is a K'iche' (a modern Mayan language) word that translates to "jaguar".
