A Fire rune is a special type of fire rune used during The Slug Menace. It is made by using a blank fire rune on an Fire Altar in the normal way and is used to unlock a mysterious door in the newly discovered shrine beneath Witchaven. In order to unlock the door, the player must also have made a special air rune, a special earth rune, a special mind rune, and a special water rune. Unlike normal fire runes, this cannot be used to cast a spell.

Success chance
The chance of successfully channelling the energies of the Fire Altar into a blank fire rune scales with Runecraft level, ranging from around 59% at level 30 up to 99% at level 99.[1]
