Sophia Hughes is a councillor of the Kourend Council. During The Queen of Thieves, players discover that she has ties with the Disciples of Yama, a cult who follows the demon Yama, who resides deep below the Chasm of Fire. She is arrested, and her position as a councillor removed. After the quest, she can be found on the top floor of the Kourend Castle, inside a cell.
During A Kingdom Divided, Sophia escapes her cell and tries to flee east towards the mainland. It is also revealed that she has been disavowed by the Disciples of Yama for "taking advantage" of his generosity. When confronted at the docks, she summons a Judge of Yama to kill the adventurer and Commander Fullore, but because she had been disavowed, she is burnt to ashes by the demon.
