The Chasm of Tears is a cavern branching off from the Lumbridge Swamp Caves. It is visited during the Death to the Dorgeshuun, Tears of Guthix and While Guthix Sleeps quests. After completion of the Tears of Guthix quest, it is also the location of the Tears of Guthix minigame. The cavern can be entered either through the Lumbridge Swamp Caves or, if the Tears of Guthix quest has been completed, with a games necklace. A light source is not required in the Chasm of Tears, despite the Lumbridge Swamp Caves immediately outside the Chasm requiring a light source. If the player has no light source, the cave will be slightly dim, as if they were carrying two candles in a dark area rather than three.
The cavern has an immense chasm in its centre. Light creatures can be seen flying about the chasm. To ride the light creatures and traverse the chasm, players must use a lit sapphire lantern to attract the creatures, which gives them the option of going across to the magical rocks.
If the player wishes to explore deeper into the chasm, light creatures located on the northern cliff-ledge can be attracted to the player with a sapphire lantern after completion of the quest While Guthix Sleeps. The light creatures will float the player down into the chasm, and to the entrance of the Ancient Guthixian Temple.
Quests
- The Tears of Guthix quest takes place entirely in this cavern, as does the minigame of the same name.
- During Death to the Dorgeshuun, players must collect 20 tears from the activity site to bring Zanik back to life. This will not count as a weekly activity visit.
- The chasm plays a critical role in While Guthix Sleeps, as it is the last area known to hold the Stone of Jas.
Trivia
- Entering this room cures the player of both Poison and Venom. Consuming items that inflict Poison, like Poison karambwan, will also not inflict the status effect.
