Rifts are the entrance to Tolna's rift. They can only be entered after starting A Soul's Bane and using a rope on one of the rifts. Attempting to enter without the quest started yields the message: "You must be to Launa first." After starting the quest, but without a rope set up yields the message: "You can't just jump down there." Attempting to enter a rift without a rope, with the rope set up, yields the message "You need to climb down at the rope."
