Lassar was a Zarosian fortress built on what is now known as Ice Mountain. Nothing remains of the fortress; it is assumed to have been destroyed during the God Wars. The fortress was rebuilt into what is now known as Ruins of Camdozaal; beneath it lies a largely intact Lassar Undercity spared from destruction because of its isolation from Lassar.
History
Lassar, during its years of service in the Second and early Third Ages, was a massive fortress on the edge of the Zarosian Empire. Its main features, according to Azzanadra, were impressive spires.[1] It existed atop what is now known as Ice Mountain, a large mountain in northern Asgarnia. At the time, Asgarnia is believed to have been much colder than it is today, yielding snow year-round; yet nearly all of it had been settled by the Zarosians.
Lassar was likely near the borders of the Zarosian Empire, which, at the very least, encompassed the entirety of the Wilderness, Misthalin, and Asgarnia. Lassar most likely served primarily as an outpost, which could protect the area against invaders.
When Zaros was overthrown by the Mahjarrat Zamorak, his kingdom was beset by many religious and racial factions that had been at war with his empire for many years. Lassar was destroyed during the early years of the war, by Saradominists and the Imcando dwarves[2], (who had just allied with Saradomin), led by Yonrith Lovakengj.[3] In exchange for their assistance in laying siege to Lassar, the Imcando dwarves were rewarded with the fortress, and rebuilt it as the dwarven city of Camdozaal. The dwarves were either unaware or not able to penetrate down into the fortress' undercity which was therefore spared by the war, but ended up being corrupted by the shadows.
The fortress itself has been forgotten by all but a few until it was excavated by the player during Below Ice Mountain, where they discovered the ruins of both the Zarosian fortress and dwarven city.
In the Fifth Age, it was discovered that those with knowledge of the Ancient Magicks could teleport to the area where Lassar once stood, using the Lassar Teleport spell, with 72 Magic, two law runes, and four water runes.
The undercity would later be unearthed by the player during Desert Treasure II.
