The jewel shards are an item obtained during the quest Secrets of the North, which are combined to create the ancient jewel.
The first shard is found by inspecting the south-western pillar after having pulled the lever in the northern room in the Ghorrock Dungeon. The second is found by searching the western chest in the centre room after lighting the braziers in the correct order.
