Icons are obtained in the Ruins of Tapoyauik during The Heart of Darkness, found in the pots on the outskirts of the room outside of Amoxliatl's arena. They are placed on the broken statues and touched in a certain order to open the frozen door ahead.
When leaving the ruins, or upon death, they are removed from the player. Icons cannot be stored in the player’s bank.
A similar icon can be found in a fountain in Villa Lucens after completing Death on the Isle and searching the fancy chest with a chest key.
