Gertrude Fairweather[1] is a woman living in a house just west of Varrock. She is the starting point for both the Gertrude's Cat and Ratcatchers quests. She has four sons: Wilough, Shilop, Philop, and Kanel. Her husband, Walter Fairweather, is a travelling merchant, and is not present ingame.
Once your cat has become overgrown, she will sell you kittens for 100, but keep in mind you can only have one kitten at a time. When you have a normal cat in your inventory or in your bank, she won't give you a kitten. If you store your normal cats in your POH, she will sell you a new kitten. The colour of the kitten is random unless you have a Ring of Charos(a), then you will be able to charm Gertrude into letting you choose the colour of the kitten. Doing so the first time completes a medium Varrock Diary task.
Once a player catches 100 rats with their cat, she'll award them with the cat training medal. Note that this must be done before their cat reaches overgrown stage, or they'll not get the reward.

Trivia
- Gertrude made an appearance in the 2024 Christmas event, during which she adopted a cat whom she names Kimba.
- Gertrude may be named after Gertrude of Nivelles, who is the patron saint of cats.
- Talking to Gertrude with the cat ears or hell cat ears equipped gives additional dialogue where she thinks the player is a cat and offers them a sardine.
