The broken redirector is the device that players destroy during the quest The Ascent of Arceuus, in which it was responsible for redirecting energy from the Dark Altar, causing loss in power from the Dark Altar among the Citizens of Arceuus and the death of Thana.
It is obtained from Lord Trobin Arceuus during A Kingdom Divided, and is given to the Tasakaal in order to have them inspect it, where players discover the device was created by Xamphur, who had Councillor Andrews place the device nearby.
